PRETORIA — DA mayoral candidate Cilliers Brink has unveiled a tougher campaign strategy, replacing traditional door-to-door canvassing with kicking down doors and checking residents’ Afrikaans proficiency.
The new approach follows a controversial operation at an allegedly hijacked Pretoria building, where Brink appeared wearing a bulletproof vest accompanied by armed private security.
‘We’ve realised voters respond better when you don’t give them the option of answering the door,’ explained a campaign spokesperson.
The revamped campaign reportedly includes tactical training, door-breaching exercises and intensive lessons in asking ‘Kan jy Afrikaans praat?’ with sufficient authority.
Campaign volunteers previously equipped with clipboards and pamphlets will now receive bulletproof vests and steel-toed boots.
The DA insists the strategy demonstrates its commitment to restoring law and order.
